MYLA is an all-volunteer organization. Coaches are selected by the board from member parents and area experts.
COACHES
All coaches receive US Lacrosse Level One Certification and Positive Coaching Alliance Double Goal training. Combining online material with practical clinics, these sport-specific courses prepare coaches for a productive and enjoyable season learning how to:
Teach the game with positive enthusiasm, from fundamental skills to advanced tactics
Plan practices and manage games
Access the USL database for ideas and drills
Work with Youth in a safe and age-appropriate manner
All coaches receieve a background check from the National Center for Safety Initiative.
Coaches receive support from the organization and Medina area lax gurus. Past coaches, high school staff and players mentor coaches and pass on knowledge.
TEAM PARENT
While coaches focus on development and competitive aspects of the team, a team parent fosters the comraderie and chemistry that are so important to a team's success. Team activities detached from the lacrosse field lets players to express themselves, breaks down "talent hierarchy", and fosters team and individual growth.
Organize spirit event for the team & manage the team's spirit budget
Encourage positive parent sideline involvement
Help with administrative tasks such as communication plan etc
